Monogram 1/48 F-84F

November 25, 2012 in Aviation

Another of Monogram’s excellent kits. I had done the “G” model earlier and the operation of the canopy, together with the swept wings, harkened me to add her sister ship. The NMF was (again) accomplished with Model Master buffable metalizers in the spray cans. Few of my builds include any pilot figures because I can’t seem to master the art of “realism” in regard to uniforms and [especially] faces.

  1. Craig…. You can get around the pilot figure face problem by finding one that has his oxygen mask on.

  2. Yeah….I’ve done that one before. Mask on, visor down, gloves……not too bad doin’ those.

  3. again…beautiful natural metal…don’t fear alclad…it’s expensive as heck but if you wash the model and lay down their grey primer and rub it out with a tee shirt where the wing roots and turbulance are…then hit it with duraluminum…you can absolutely mask on it with no fear all day long…decals don’t need any clear…until after they are applied…use their aqua gloss…you will love those products…they are definitely a new generation…it took me forever to break from roscoe creeds floquil and model master scratches just looking at it…the 3 products i just named are 30 bucks total…wonderful stuff…apply kind of wet…no dusting no flooding…i think you’ll be amazed
