December 31, 2012 · in Aviation · · 9 · 4.8K

This is Mk.1 finished with the markings of “London Pride ” (AK772 GA-Y) from No.112 Squadron RAF (Shark Squadron) during spring of 1942 in Gambut Libya . This Kittyhawk was flown by P.O. Burney & Sqn Ldr. Clive Caldwell .
The cockpit is modified by PE instrument panel and seat belts.
Painted in a similar fashion to others Shark Squadron's Kittyhawks, but with very dark blue undersurfaces. And also no yellow wing leading edge stripes. Camouflage scheme is Dark Earth and Middlestone over Mediteranean Blue.
The decals and references are from BarracudaCals P-40s of 112 Squadron RAF Part1 set.

Happy new year to all
Tolga

  1. These large scale P-40's ...for what ever reason they look better or have more heft to them than there smaller counter parts. Tolga this kit is inspirational to say the least. Any vote short of a 10 would be criminal.

  2. Excellent build and photo's, Tolga...a really nice P-40 model.

  3. Geat work, and the 'cover shot' could have been taken in 1942, really great.

  4. Cool! My favorite Kittyhawk!

  5. Fantastic desert shark, Tolga! I certainly favor the lighter reddish toned Dark Earth you used on this one. May I ask what brand of paints you used on this one?

I used Gunze Sangyo acrylics for the upper surfaces. These are H71 Middlestone and H72 Dark earth with some white and yellow drops to make its tone lightened. Underside color is a mix of Tamiya acrylics.

  6. Having done this particular model with these decals myself, I want to compliment you on another really fine result. Your models have a real conistency of quality. And a "10"
