1/48 AMtech P-40F/L
Had the distinct pleasure of meeting John Leaher and Herb Heibrun at a book signing for their book "Black and White Airman". Both men grew up in Cincinnati and during the war John flew with the "Tuskegee Airman" and escorted Herb on missions in the ETO. They would discover this 60 years later in life. They would learn they were in the same third grade class but because of segreation went their separate ways until the war brought the two together during air combat. They inspired me to do this model. It's the resin nose plug kit from AMtech and it depicts the P-40L flown by 1LT Herman "Ace" Lawson in Italy early 1944. Tamiya and MM paints were used as well as Ultracast wheels, and an Edward PE cockpit set.
Very nice work on this! The paintwork is excellent. Good story too.
One trick I can pass on to you: you can get rid of those nasty seams where the windscreen fits the fuselage by running a line of white glue around it. The glue dries invisible and seals the seam without harming the glass.
Can't think of a better motivation to build a model of a particular aircraft than this. Good work! Thanks for sharing
