Revell 1/32nd (60′s issue) Spitfire Mk. I

This Spitfire was built last December. I used exhausts, radiator and oil cooler, and propeller from MDC, the Grey Matter belly correction, a back-dated Aires Mk.V cockpit set, RB Productions harness, and Barracudacast wheels, door, and canopy latch. Rudder, elevators, and wheel wells scavenged from an extra PCM kit along with the curved section of the windscreen- from which I sliced away from the flat front part and replaced with the Revell kit armored glass. Exhaust openings were shimmed to correct their width.

Paints are from Floquil’s Military Flat enamels series, decals from Freightdog- which are among the best performing decals I’ve ever used.

The model represents a plane flown by Battle Of Britain triple ace Flt.Lt. Brian Carbury of No. 603 Squadron.

  1. Erik…….Beautiful work on a beautiful aircraft.

  2. I remember 40 years ago thinking this was a really great kit, then discovering otherwise. You’ve definitely turned it into a great model.

  3. Erik, this looks every bit like an early-mark Spitfire, no holds barred. Great work on modernizing this old kit. Is this the kit prop/spinner? It looks too good to be that.
