Tamiya 1/35M-51 Sherman

December 21, 2012 · in Armor · · 6 · 1.9K

A period of me-time between contracts afforded the opportunity to make 's new M-51 Sherman. I've been wanting to build a HVSS Sherman for ages and this kit is an absolute ripper - easy to build with fantastic detail straight out of the box. The basic camo is Tetsors 'Israeli Sand' with washes and filters of various acrylic paints (mainly Gunze Sangyo). Pastels chalk, and some powdered graphite on the tracks, finished off the model.

  1. Nicely detailed build, Nick...I hope to start my Tamiya 48th Sherman for a change of pace soon.

  2. A very nice effort Nick - looks even better in real life ;-).

  3. Superb build Nick! 🙂

    • Many thanks Charles. I haven't been building a lot of kits over the last few years however I keep up with my reading (of model mags) and this kit was a great opportunity to put into practice what I'd seen written/done by others. It was a fun build and you can understand why Tamiya make some of the best kits around.
