1:32 Scale Hasegawa Focke Wulf Fw-190A-5

February 27, 2013 · in Aviation · · 8 · 3.2K

This is one of 's newer kits of this famous aircraft, and one of the fastest models I've ever built. I think it took me about a week, maybe a couple days longer from start to finish.

Model was again built OOB, with the only additions being the paper seat belts made from paper strips cut from the instruction sheet, (A little trick I learned from Rafe Morrisey) and the stretched sprue antenna.

Model is painted using Floquil Military Enamels...(Remember them?) in the standard Luftwaffe day scheme of RLM 74/75/76. I still have a bunch of them and, years later, they still rock.

This was a very enjoyable build by the way and another one of those that, if you have not built one, put it on you "to do" list.

Thanks again,

Freddie from LI

The decals are the kit decals and weathering is through thinned oils and pastel chalks.

  1. Yes Sir, another good lookin build. Gotta ask, that cant be a decal on the cowling? You gotta love the German mottling camo.

  2. I am very partial to 190s and yours is great! I am especially fond of checked cowl ones. Looks beautiful, makes me want to build one!

  3. Thanks again guys. To answer your questions:
Jeff: It's a decal, and it came with the kit too.
Rob: Definitely build one, it's a beautiful kit. Just watch your rump with the cowl. It's a multi piece affair and it has to be lined up right or it'll cause grief later on.

  4. Great work Freddie. Tell us more about those seat belts, cuz those look very realistic and I would not mind saving a few pennies buying Eduard p-e.

  5. I use both of the Microscale products, and I also use solvaset. Trick is, to get the decal where you want quickly because that stuff really softens them up and they can tear really easy
Tom, I am currently working on a 1:32 scale P-40 and I will be making those for it too. I will take detailed pictures and post them on here. They are not that hard, if I can do it...

  6. Nice paint job, sir...a ten-pointer.

  7. Excellent Butcher Bird.
