Hasegawa 1:32 Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden “Jack”

March 11, 2013 · in Aviation · · 4 · 3.8K

This is my which I 've build in the summer of last year.
Although it was a easy kit to build, I had some issues with the kit. Some internal parts in the fuselage and the wing spar made the join of fuse and wings very difficult.
I wrecked the decals on the tail when I used Sol, removed the decals, resprayed the tail and instead I wanted to make the version with the lightningbolts , which I didn't like.
After applying the lightning bolts on the plane I was not content, I removed them, sanded and resprayed the whole "shizzle". I later stuck some 1:48 scale J1N1 Gekko tailcodes on the plane. ( yeah, I know not historical correct...)
I must say did a good job on the kit, the pilot is very well detailed, I painted it but afterwards did not used it.
Everything is painted with Tamiya acrylics. Used colours are IJN green ( top), IJN grey ( bottom) , lemon yellow with a drop of red for the tailband and IFF, flat black mixed with light blue for the anti-glare. Exhaust stains are sprayed with flat black , dark brown and sand colour. Build on a Dutch forum; http://plakkers-inc.nl/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1538
I hope you like it...

Best regards;

  1. Other than the remarkable job you did on the build (a 10), why did you go to the trouble [at least it would be for ME], to paint the pilot if you didn't intend to use it? Secondly, if I send you MY pilot figures, will ya paint 'em for me? lol

    Superb! Fantastic weathering and the pilot/figure painting is great too. I have to agree with Craig's comment as i dunno why you didn't put him in the model with the canopy slid back.

  3. Beautiful job on this model. I love the weathering and the exhaust staining is spot on. Terrific job Ulrich.

  4. Beautiful work Ulrich! And, yes, the pilot looks superb, so life-like(details on your technique with him?)! Hey, I've got a bunch of 1/48 figures you could work on for me too, lol.
