F-86 Sabres

May 26, 2013 in Aviation

In keeping with the North American Sabre Jet motif, I offer these older builds from my files. The one hanging up is the Hasegawa 32nd example and the other two are the venerable Monogram 1/48th scale kits. Unfortunately, they are now “dust collectors” out among all the models in my display area (I have no room for cases). Always loved the ‘older’ Monogram stuff – IMO, the best domestic kits available before the influx of of the Japanese and European kits. Some of them still are.

  1. Craig….I agree with your Monogram comments. Nice nmf Sabres, nice finishes. The “D” model is one of my favorites as well.

  2. Craig, nice collection of Sabres, I really must get hold of a D version in 1/48, any recommendations for a nice kit ?. I keep all my finished work in sealed plastic boxes but if they are getting dusty you can just run them under the cold tap (Fauset I think you say) and then just let them dry off.

    • That’s a good tip, thanks, Neil. When I was a kid we just threw them out of an upstairs window to see if they would fly, if only I’d kept them…………..oh well.

  3. Like I said, ya can’t go wrong with Monogram.
I’ve done with tap water thing before, but thanks.
