1/48 AA FBC-1 ("Soaring Flying The Leopard")

July 30, 2013 · in Uncategorized · · 3 · 2.2K

This is a BIG aircraft, and a very basic, inexpensive kit of a Chinese fighter in demonstration team colors. Everything about this kit is minimal, including detail and decals, but the overall size is impressive, and it looks "bright" on a shelf of drab jets. I never heard of AA before, or since. I bought two different models they offered (on sale), because I felt I had nothing to lose, at the price. If nothing else, It's unusual. The "name" of the aircraft came right off the Chinese box art, and is some of the very few words of english in the whole kit. If you don't expect much, you won't be dissappointed...

  1. Joe,
    Looks good to me.

  2. Where I live in China there is a small airport which seems to double as a military airbase. Not being an aircraft expert I couldn't tell you which planes are there, but they do look a bit like this one. I wouldn't dare to get close enough to photograph them, and I haven't met anyone here yet who's vaguely interested. The kids I teach are much too busy studying to be interested, or have hobbies for that matter.

  3. George, Sounds like you've made an interesting choice of careers. You're probably the only one on this site that could actually read the instructions and box art. I'm sure the aircraft, itself, is out of date. Check out airliners.net. For those interested, Trumpeter may have it in 1/72.
