1/35 Panther G by Tamiya

Designed as a response to the Russian T-34, the was considered by many to be the finest tank of WWII. Although it experienced significant teething problems in its earlier renditions, it was fine tuned into a dependable well armored fist. Armed with a PaK 40 75 mm gun, she had the range and penetration to defeat all comers. Her well sloped armor defended her well also.

This model represents a Panther at the end of the war, which was rumored to have been involved in a night breakout from the Russian noose around Berlin. The infrared night sights allowed her to see her target without revealing her own position. A reinforced battalion apparently decided to surrender to the Americans and fought their way west. Did it actually happen? Well, rumors are after all rumor, but the Russians did have after action reports that something odd happened and a Soviet regiment was decimated.

This is one of their finest. Fit is excellent, proportions are accurate and the final product is clearly a Panther! I have finished it in late war "ambush" camo. I added night sights from a Dragon half-track kit.

  1. very nice panther! I noticed you have the turret open, did you do a lot on the interior?

  2. No turret detail. The kit hatches are movable, so I propped them open just to illustrate it. The commander's hatch is of such small diameter I don't know how a fellow could get thru!

  3. Michael,
I'm running out of words of praise.
