1/72 Airfix P-38 Lightning

August 24, 2013 · in Aviation · · 4 · 3.6K

I decided to raid the stash one day, and came up with this old kit. While it shows it's age, it's still a fun build, and looks ok when finished. I opted for a small "base" rather than mess with weight in that tiny nose. I had two Airfix 's of the same subject, but released at different times. The shark mouth was different on each ! ( One ended up on my Saab J-21) I still love building an old Airfix, or Monogram kit now and then. It's always a trip down memory lane, to the days before seam work, details, airbrushes, and ,computers etc. While it's good to see my improvements, it's nice to remember the path to this point.

  1. Double shark mouth. Love it !

  2. Very nice again Joe, I think that some of the old Airfix kits will make a return again. Rumour has it that they are re-tooling some old favourites.

  3. sweet little build joe
