Are you a Blochhead? Bloch 152, France 1940....

August 30, 2013 · in Aviation · · 8 · 2.4K

's rather nice kit of the ill-fated Bloch 152, a machine rushed into service to fast with too many flaws. Always one to build weirder kits, I picked this one up at the '05 Nats, and built it around '08. It has a resin cowl and engine that are very well done, but also a warped right fuselage that made things interesting. The kit decals are used and the etchings for the gunsights add delicacy. The spinner had to be shaved well down to look better. Model Master French colors were free-handed as per the real ones. The finished model represents one flown with some success in the short Battle of France. BTW Marcel Bloch later changed his firm's name to Dassault, and had more luck. If at first you don't succeed...

  1. OK Bill, After seeing this model, I'm a "Blochhead" Beautifully built and painted!

  2. French aircraft of the day tended to be under powered and under armed. Daussalt did a really nice job with the Mirage series, but the Israelis still thought they were under powered and under armed. Imagine that . . .

  3. Azur has really stepped up to the plate. Their Potex 631 (?) is really nice, and their update of the Accurate Miniatures Vindicator is a definite improvement on the original.

  4. I like it, Bill, nicely finished and photographed.

  5. Bill,
    Looks real good, great job.

  6. Thanks guys, you are now all officially Blochheads.

  7. Nice model from a kit that I know ain't that easy. Good work.

  8. one heck of a paint job
