New Smyrna Beach – Collings P-51B/C and “Tondelayo”

August 14, 2013 in Aviation

These are the remaining shots of the Collings’ birds that flew in for their “tune-up”. Don’t know why there are so few shots of Tondelayo – and the P-51 was pretty much torn down by the time I got to it (good pics for you detailers, but no so good of the aircraft itself). They’ll be back in a few months and I’ll hopefully be able to get some better shots.

  1. Nice pictures..
Tondelayo will be my second B-25 in 1/48 scale.
By the way I need wartime pictures of this Mitchell (B-25C or D), If I m not mistaken the glass nose were painted to the fuselage color.

    • Unfortunately, Tolga…I only have these restoration pics. I’m quite sure there’s someone on the forum(s) that’ll come through with whatcha need, though. Can’t wait to see more of your work. very inspirational

  2. ahh headly lamarr…when i flew in this they offered to let me crawl up into the nose…but the tunnel was about 12″ x 12″…i gratefully declined…i stood behind the pilots as they made a tree top run down a river…wish that nose had been a little more accessable

  3. the mustang ride was 2 g’s…a lot better than crazy horse but too rich for my blood
