Tamiya P47D "Five by Five"

August 17, 2013 · in Aviation · · 6 · 2.2K

Hi Everyone

I started a self mini group build of P47's from 362nd FG using the excellent Barracudacals sheet "Mogins Maulers". Here is No.2 from this series of builds "Five by Five". Ultracast seat & wheels. I will leave it to Tom to provide historical context (which I always enjoy).
More 362nd P47's to come now that I have managed to take a few pics!
Thanks
Darren

  1. Very nicely executed representation, Darren...exquisite job on all those panel lines/access hatches, etc. And the NMF is top-notch...good work! BTW, it matches exactly to a 50-plane color plate of Jugs I have framed.

  2. The best historical context for the 362nd is to go to Damon Rarey's website, now maintained as a legacy since his death. Probably one of the best Ww2 sites ever done.

  3. Nice model series, BTW. I did "Dad" Rarey's airplane from the 1998 Nats sheet - couldn't pass up an artist who was a fighter pilot. Damon was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, we do a lot of the things we do here on the net because of his pioneering work.

  4. Good work, Darren, it will be interesting the see all five together in one picture.

  5. Darren,

Beautiful job on the Jug! Wish I could get my metal finishes that nicely done.
