Zvezda 1:72 Fw-190 a-4

August 19, 2013 · in Aviation · · 11 · 3.6K

This is 's "Snap-fit" 1:72 Fw190 a-4 done in the markings of W.Nr.0601 of 1./JG 1

Amsterdam-Schipol, June 1943.

a good kit in outline and fit. a few minor detail errors (wrong engine cooling vents, late model wheels), but overall a nice kit. i Used BarracudeCast wheels and Quickboost cannon barrels.

Paints were a combination of Gunze and Mr.Color rlm 74/75/76. The Mr. color 74 is decidedly very green, i don't know if this is the correct shade, but i liked the looks of it. i didn't go too crazy on the weathering, some post shading, panel line wash, and silver pencil chipping. i used the profile and pictures on page 471 of Classic Publication's Fw190 Vol. Two 1943-1944. Markings were sourced from different sheets, checkered nose was painted

  1. Nice...I'd have guessed 1/48th - excellent job.

  2. I must say that this looks like a real deal of a Fw 190 in this scale. I'll make sure to add this to my future shopping list.

You've done a great job on the checkers which must have been difficult to mask.

  3. Great job! 1/72 really, looks bigger. Great paint and decals, they all look painted! Subtle weathering but it really puts it over the top

  4. beautiful roger as we've come to expect from you...love the pilot

  5. Gorgeous model, and it is in such a small scale!

  6. "Exceptional" is the one word I can think of. It looks like this Russian company has captured the essence of the Fw-190.

Two thumbs up and a "You like this".

  7. Terrific job, Roger, especially in 1/72 scale.

  8. Simply beautiful, to say the least.

  9. Really awesome build Roger! Especially taking into account the kit from which it was built...

  10. Fantastic job indeed
