The Hindenburg
Here is something different. It's the Revell 1/720 Hindenburg very easy to put together. It was painted with floquil old silver then decaled and the windows were painted on. This was the cruise ship of the sky for crossing the Atlantic in the 1930's.
Very nice looking rendition, Mark - I like it...I only wish you had included the actual size in your narrative or something in the photos for a reference (a 1/720th scale Hindenburg means nothing to me) - 🙁
I make it around 13.3" as a model, based on Hindenburg dims - is that correct? Never seen one of these built before though.
Re Craig's comment, maybe a larger base with control lines leading from the ship to ground stakes would add dimension. That said, I really like the model.
I think that Revell's waterline ship models were 1/720, if so this would make a great comparison with, say, a Revell battleship. Always liked the rigid airships, you did a nice job and something different in aircraft posts.
Sorry about that Yes it is about 13" long. The wood base was used to raise the model for the pictures it normally sits on the plastic base which came with the model their is black felt on the base so the model doesn't get scratched.
Mark, I think it looks great, and I know that handling anything over a foot long has it's own set of inherent problems. Well done !

You would think that at 1/720 this would be a tiny model, but it isn't. I once contemplated scratchbuilding the Hindenburg in 1/72, but a quick calculation showed that it wouldn't fit into any room in my house!
Great job on a different kit.
