Coast Guard R5D in 1/144 Scale Minicraft Kit

November 19, 2013 · in Aviation · · 11 · 2.2K

This is my R5D which was used by the Coast Guard from 1945 through 1962.
This was built straight from the box. It went together very nicely with very little fit problems. The model was painted with Model Master Enamels and the kit decals were used. The nose has to be weighted so it doesn't sit on it's tail.

  1. Looks very nice, especially for 1/144. I have on older Minicraft B29 "Enola Gay" half built on the shelf and inspiring to see what you have done with a kit in that scale.

  2. Beautifully done, Mark...very nice indeed.

  3. I like it….looks great.

  4. Very attractive scheme, as well as one of the more difficult schemes I know of. Good job, Mark !

  5. Great looking scheme and finely modelled.

  6. Mark,
This outstanding. These little beauties are harder to do than one would expect. Lot''s of very tiny pieces. Plus your paint job is stunning. Great job and again, outstanding.

  7. Nice job on a small model, painting the old style Coast Guard paint scheme is no easy task, you did it right!

  8. It's a very neat job, Mark, especially difficult in this scale, and very attractive, too.

  9. Nice job Mark, I like your attention to detail. As an ex-Coast Guard aircraft Mechanic/Aircrewman, I can appreciate the job you have done. Kudos to your skill and choice of subject matter. Semper Paratus!
