WNW Albatros D.V (1/32)

November 7, 2013 · in Aviation · · 15 · 4.2K

Just completed my after a year of on-off building. Assembly of this kit was really enjoyable, but there is a lot of room for improvements. As my first kit in 32nd scale after a long time, It was a test of patience and it is not the kit you want to build fast. There is so much extra details you can put into this model, and I tried to do my best.

Building this kit is pretty straightforward, although i recommend to be extra careful when assembling interiors due to perfect parts fit. Even the slight amount of excess paint can cause you the problems, because the part just wont fit perfectly. Other than that, the kit itself is probably the best I've ever built, with perfect fit, no sinkmarks or excess flash.

The model was painted with Mr. color paints, mixed to match the appropriate tone of the camouflage. As I can't build anything oob anymore, I used the following aftermarket parts: Master Spandau machine guns, Gaspatch turnbuckles and HGW fabric seatbelts.

For the base I used Model Scene grass and the old guy standing next to the plane is a great mechanic from Kellerkind miniatures.

This Albatros was flown by Eduard Ritter von Schleich, Jasta 21, Sept 1917 (35 victories).
