Eduard's Spitfire Mk.IXc (late) in 1/48 scale, by Tony Prince

December 19, 2013 · in Aviation · · 9 · 2.2K

The best kit in this scale in my opinion. I've built most of them too, from the ancient Monogram Mk IX to Otaki, Tamiya Mk Vs, Airfix Mk IX, ICM & Hasegawa. They have all had their problems; some I could live with & others were binned. I've modified & corrected most of these to some degree up to now, but the kit is straight out of the box apart from the roundels & the addition of an oxygen tube in the cockpit. The model with the invasion stripes is a Hasegawa Mk IX just for comparison. Basic corrections have been made to the fuselage length & spinner. Good to see an accurate Spit IX at long last from Eduard.

Cheers,

Tony

  1. Beautifully built Tony, lovely paint job and very subtle weathered.
A great testament of your copius skill.
    Well done.

  2. Another outstanding contribution to the world of Spitfires from your bench.
    Very nicely done.

  3. Nice clean build, a beautiful paint finish. But you need to get someone to pull those pesky weeds growing on the tarmac...

  4. Superb Spitfire Tony, beautiful realisation.

    Best regards, Eric

  5. Yep...what they said - nice work.

  6. Yes, that Eduard Spitfire is indeed a great kit. Given one is only likely ever to do one 1/32 Tamiya Mk. IX, this is a kit one can easily do multiples of.

Very nice work on this one.

  7. Very nice, Tony. Well done.

  8. those are lovely

  9. Is this the most beautiful aircraft ever? It's certainly a very beautiful model of it, excellent job, Tony.
