Gavia 1/48 Polikarpov Po-2

December 29, 2013 · in Aviation · · 15 · 6.1K

Hello! Another model of the box - at that time it , owned by Aviation border troops of the USSR, the 50s of the last century. Built with little or no modifications, only slightly fiddled with wing-racks. Online not so many models of this aircraft, so it will not be unnecessary)).
Enjoy all the view!

  1. Another of your outstanding builds. The engine. Really stands out.

  2. Very nice. The finish is great.

  3. A very nice, clean build, Maxim, which you've managed to do while at the same time making the aircraft look 'old', good job.

  4. Looks great Maxim. Nicely painted and weathered to show use but not over the top. Interesting subject too. I have always been drawn to biplanes but don't know where to start. Any suggestions for models or manufacturers that are gentle on beginners? It is the rigging that puzzles me most.

    • Alan, I'd try Eduards 48th Fokker DVII series, and DRI (sorry, triplane) both types have minimal rigging.
If you can find them, Accurate Miniatures F3F series have photoetch rigging enclosed. Line 'em up, glue, and you're done.
      My .02 cents worth.

  5. Maxim,
Outstanding as usual. You are an incredible builder.

  6. Maxim, as always great job!

    My congratulations!

    Best regards, Vlad.

  7. Thank you for your kind words, colleagues!
Alan - must begin with airplanes, with a minimum of bracing wires on. For example, the Fokker EV. Then move on to the Nieuport, or monoplane. And only then can fight monsters like Fe-2b.)))

  8. You astound me every time Maxim, yet another top quality build of very high standards.
    A very well done sir.
Look forward to more of your work in the new year.

  9. Nice clean build of a not so common model aircraft.

  10. another heroic effort

  11. A plane i've tried to build in 1/72 scale but failed (MPM). This one is well achieved.

  12. I know this an old post, but I jut bought one of these kits and wanted to see some built. Looks great. Nice job. 🙂
