Lakenheath Mudhen
This is the 1/48 Academy kit of a F-15E Strike Eagle from 492nd FS (RAF Lakenheath), depicted as deployed to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, 2006, hence a little dirtier than at home.
Except for a few RBF tags, everything is OOB.
Those of you who've seen my other builds may note that this is pretty much the first jet offering - pilots strapped across jet-cans aren't really my thing - but as Lakenheath mudhens fly in pairs over my house almost daily, I went over to the dark side on this occasion.
Now Rob, we know you have ventured to the dark side on at least two other occasions, and I for one am glad to see you do, as your work is appreciated no matter what venue you choose to indulge yourself. Your F-15 looks great.
The cockpit photo looks as prototypical as it gets! A great job, especially on the weathering detail, just enough..
Rob, I'm glad you made the leap of faith. Beautiful job. Must be a treat to see these birds on a regular basis. Interesting the (I assume) "mission markings" on the port side below cockpit. Thanks for posting!

It's cool, Rob, the subtle weathering is especially convincing. I lived in Norfolk for a number of years and lost count of the number of times I drove past RAF Lakenheath!

Absolutely beautiful. Wonderful weathering. I would not be a fan of mud hens but I will bet you are glad they are not seagulls. "little birdie's in the sky, dropped some whitewash in my eye. Gee I'm glad elephants don't fly"
