Base done, olive drab coat on the Huey

March 16, 2014 · in Aviation · 11 · 1.1K

This is the Verlinden helo base with a Hobby Boss UH-1C that I added the weapons mounts and 40mm grenade launcher "borrowed" from the Monogram hog kit. Still working on the D-Day Beaufighter too! Can't just do 1 thing at a time.
Planning on using the markings from the HB kit with the shark mouth. No guns on the pylons, just the 19 shot rocket pods. Guess that makes it a "Heavy Hog" . Hope to get paint on the Beaufighter tonight.

  3. That looks to be an outstanding dio in the making. I love it!

  4. That looks like a very nice dio in the making Steven.
    What scale is it ?

  5. Looking good! Are the sandbags home made or a commercial product? I'm not up to date on commercialy availible after market items.

  6. Ditto all of the above! You doing figures with this too?

    • This was a light resin casting, the sandbags, steel plank, and ground work were all molded in place. The molded ground work was kind of soft so I used white glue and put a layer of good North Carolina red clay on it. Seems to be a good match to Viet Nam red clay. Mostly all i've done is the "dirt" and paint the molded detail.
L haven't had any success with figures so this will be it
