Bye-Bye Corsair

March 10, 2014 · in Aviation · · 13 · 1.6K

I took a few pictures the other day of a model I had built a few years ago before it left for it's new home. A friend wanted it for his Grandson and had me add his nickname onto the model. This was built during my weathering learning curve. It wasn't built to be displayed on a stand but that was the request. I'm sure going to miss it.

  1. That's an interesting scheme. Now you can build another one.

  2. Nuthin' wrong with that weatherin', Jack...looks pretty good (I'd miss it as well), but hey - if it's for a friend's grandson, what the heck.
However, I do have my doubts as to the longevity of the model with a nickname like "Major Storm" as the owner/caretaker. LOL

  3. love the stand...gonna have to do one of those

  4. Hi Jack, Im with Craig on the weathering and i really like that scheme
is it the old Monogram Kit ?
By the way how old is the Grandson if only a youngster i can see a return to base for a quick service!
    Nicely Done Jack

  5. Build it and they will come. If you cant find the decals then print your own. its not that difficult. Besides, I would love to see another one of these.

  6. Great scheme, never seen that one before.

  7. Jack, great job on the weathering and overall finish. I really think that these corsairs in their 50's reserve paint schemes are really unique. I built a Corsair from this Sqdrn. awhile ago using the HAS F4U-4 kit-what a fun project. Thanks for posting your.

  8. Nice clean build. Gotta love that paint scheme and the weather job, great!

  9. Jack,
Very nicely done. The grandson must have been very happy with it. Great looking Corsair.

  10. It looks very good, Jack, I can understand that you didn't want to part with it, but I'm sure the grandson was very pleased with it, so that's surely equally satisfying.

  11. Tough call, Jack ! It's a beauty ! (looks even better in person)
