1/72 Tamiya A6M3 Hamp.

May 5, 2014 · in Uncategorized · · 21 · 2.6K

I have just completed this today. This is my A6M3 Hamp. A very nice kit in 1/72 one of the best I have built to date. As you can see I wanted to paint it in the same markings as the 1/48th one that I built years ago. Painted with Tamiya Acrylics with the exception of the cowl in Mr Color "cowling color" and the prop in Alclad.

  3. Hey, Geoffrey...good ta hear from ya again. I gotta say, those two kits don't look that far off in the two scales...least not to me, they don't. Excellent work, by the way - especially in such "confined spaces". Love the finish(es).

  4. Looks great Geoffrey. I picked up the A6M2 and it looks like a nice kit as well. I hope I can make mine look as good as yours. Nice work.

  5. Very nice finish on this, Geoffrey.

  8. Nice detailing in this scale.

  9. Hi Geoffrey, thats a really nice job you have done there on both models!
i really like the early Japanese schemes they didn't lose much paint as the green one's plus if your a weathering freak like me you can go to town on em,
these 1/72 Tamiya Zeros are just gorgeous i think they are just as good as the supposedly ultimate 1/72 Zero made by Fine Moulds thats if you can find one as rare as hens teeth and very expensive
Are they depicting the same Aircraft?
    Great Job Geoffrey

Thanks Mark, Yes both models are depicting the same aircraft. I have one of those Fine Molds kits in the stash!

  10. Fine build there Geoffrey.
Those Tamiya kits are good but pricey sadly.
    Well done sir.

  11. I really like this. Nice work.

  12. great build, been thinking about getting one of these now I know I will

  13. Very nice Geoffrey. It's every bit as good looking as it's older brother. Time for a 1/144th and 1/32 version ?

  14. Nice clean build.

  15. Nice work there.

  16. Wow! Excellent!
It looks much bigger than 1/72 scale!

  17. Absolutely beautiful stuff. the detail is excellent for 1/72 scale and really shows what can be done in this scale if one has talent. You definitely have some talents.

  18. One other question. How did you do the panel lines on this a/c?

    • said on May 7, 2014

David, the panel lines were done with a simple oil wash using mig oils, a mixture of black and brown.

  19. Geoffrey,
    Absolutely beautifully done.
