1/48 Tamiya A-1H (VF-75 Sunday Punchers)

August 26, 2014 · in Aviation · · 14 · 1.3K

It has been quite a while since I have posted any of my builds, to tell the truth, I haven't really finished many in the past few months. This is sort of a get my mojo filter clean and see if I can get back in the swing of things.

I chose this scheme because I thought I had seen plenty of that bees business end for quite a while and really, even though a prop plane shot down a Mig, it wasn't the first time. The kits went together really well even though there were a few issues caused by yours truly. The decals are from Eagle Strike and were a very good set. They responded very well to a moderate application of Micro-sol and Solvaset.

I used a mixture of Vallejo and Model Master acrylics and for the primer a few shots of Rust-o-leum white primer which is very fine and cheaper than a 4 oz can from the LHS. The Camera is a Canon EOS T3 with the 18-55 mm kit lens.

Cheers
Paul

  5. Hi Paul. Your Skyraider is a REAL STUNNER. Your weathering is spot on!

  6. Love the SPAD!

She looks used but not abused, plus, it's a CAG bird.

I'll bet putting all them colors on the rudder was a lot of fun!

    Really nice rendition!

Nice work Paul. Nice to see something other than "The Bee." Might have to break down and build one of mine that's in the stash...somewhere.

  9. Nicely finished and photographed, Paul.

  10. Nice work. I particualrly like the dirty finish!

  11. Well done SPAD Paul. Just the right amount grunge to my eye. Glad glad to see markings that don't included an insect with "stinger envy" issues. ;-).

  12. Hello Paul...That's a fine build on a fine old plane. Very nicely weathered too...looks mighty good.
