P-47D Thunderbolt by Tamiya in 1/48 scale

September 7, 2014 · in Aviation · · 22 · 2.2K

This is the 'Jug' flown by Capt. Edward O. Fisher of the 377th. FS, 362nd. FG, in 1944.
The kit was built a few years ago but is still one of my favourites. Build was out of the box with Model Master Metalizer paints & Eagle Strike decals. The kit hardly needed any glue & no filler at all. Hope you like it.

  1. Great looking Thunderbolt Tony, great finish.

  2. An awesome Jug! Love that NMF.

  3. Good work on this Jug.

  4. Really nice Thunderbolt Tony. I love your outdoor photos.

    • Thanks Steve. I have a selection of bases with a variety of ground cover or 'concrete' paving, blue cartridge paper with a shot of white primer for clouds & a few pics of airfield buildings from the web as background. Just a bit of fun to create a little atmosphere.

  5. One of my favorites, Tony...those last three pics are especially exceptional.

  6. Tony...that's a fine looking P-47, very nicely done.

  7. Nice Tony, some really good pics outside too.
    We all love big jugs..

    Well done mate.

  8. Stunning build, Tony and well photographed ! This Tamiya kits are a "must"
    for a P-47 fan, i guess

  9. Another nice looking jug, Tony, good photographs, too. As a Spitfire fan, do you think those wings look a little 'Spitfireish'?

  10. Thanks for the kind words George. I suppose there is a similarity in the sense that they both have an elliptical planform but the Spitfire has a curved leading edge vs a straight one on the Jug: and then there's the size...

  11. Further proof that the Tamiya P-47s are the best. Great work by the modeler too.

  12. Tony,
Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Any Jug driver would proud of the way you complimented them and their airplane.
