Revell 1/426 U.S.S. Arizona

October 29, 2014 · in Ships · · 6 · 2.9K

This is 's Arizona that I built for the second time. It went together well and before I started I wanted it to be a waterline model. I cut off the bottom half of the hull and I have a hope someday that I will put in a water setting. The main problem I had was the one tower on big "stilts" it wouldn't go in right and I had to cut some plastic off the legs. The main flag bar is a toothpick. I drilled all of the gun barrels out with a tiny drill bit and they were worth the time doing it. I painted the deck wood and then weathered it with different colors. I had no figures to put on the ship but I'm not that worried about it. The 3rd gun down the row of big guns (front to back) has a plane launcher on it. I cut off one plane and the other I suspended from its pick-up crane. I rigged the whole ship with EZ-Line after trying hair and stretched spruce. I hope all of you guys like it and give me some good ideas. Nate Kiker

  1. Nice Nate.
We don`t get many ships posted here .
    Well done mate.

  2. If you ever decided to pose the model in a seascape I can recommend Mod Podge (glossy) as an excellent finish to simulate wave action and catch the light convincingly.

  3. A real gem! Very authentic looking Arizona. She would look awesome in a Pearl Harbour / Battleship row diorama. Well done!

  4. I do ilke it! My idea for you is please do more, ships are great and the Arizona is great choice. I love the plane hanging from the crane.

  6. Like the others said, we don't get many ships posted on this site, not sure why, because this one looks the business. It would be great to see it afloat.
