1/48 Italeri Ta-152H-1

December 24, 2014 · in Aviation · · 17 · 3.9K

Here is my (ex Trimaster, ex , ex DML) TA-152H-1.

I have always enjoyed the look of the extended wings of the TA-152. In researching for the build, I found that some of the Italeri boxings actually came with engine parts sprues- alas, mine did not! I was able to get an engine plug way back when i still ordered model kits and parts. It was from Parts R Parts- excellent stuff! You can see from the photos I included how I added bits and pieces to detail the plug a little more.

The Italeri kit had the gun breech part and I was able to slot it right into the back of the resin plug! The kit also had the engine bearers too.

I also noticed that the bulges molded on the forward part of the exhaust openings of the kit fuselage halves were not on the TA-152 so i took them off.

The Italeri kit does not provide an annular radiator but fortunately for me the Monogram 1/48 F-4J kit exhaust cans fit nicely inside the TA-152 cowl! They also have ribbing detail that looks like the TA-152 rad detail. I had some spare from using resin cans on a few of my monogram kits.

I also added a shell ejection chute and ammo box for the cannon, as well as correcting the shape of the prop blades and spinner.

I had to rework the length and sit/angle of the landing gear from plans and photos.

I had to paint the fuselage stripes as the kit decal stripes were too rigid and cracked as I tried to wrap them around the fuselage.

I had to source swastikas from spare decals in the leftover decal file.

  3. Wow! Very nice build! Now WHY would anyone want that Z-M kit when, following your lead, can make this kit look this good?

    Great one, Dan!

  4. Looks like you got all there was to get from this kit Dan. Nice paint work also.

  5. I still have a set of aftermarket decals for one of these. Must get back to it sometime. Nicely modelled, Dan.

  6. Looks really good! I built the Hobby Boss Ta-152 c-0 and it was fun to build. You can see it on I modeler.

  7. Looks sweet to me Dan.
    Well done mate.

  8. Nice 152, looks great. A part from a burner can of a General Electric as part for a radiator, never run out of ideas while modelling 🙂

  9. A very good looking Ta 152. I also built the Italeri repro of the Dragon original. You can look at it on Imodeler. Well done Dan!

  10. Dan you really put this together well. Great modeling, and super looking H-1.
