Avia S-199 Sakhin 1/72 KP Kovozávody Prostejov KPM006

December 17, 2014 in Aviation

Lovely piece of kit, sent as a gift from a friend in Czech Republic which makes it even more dear. The kit is recommended btw, plastic was good with a bit of fit issues here and there but nothing serious!

Finding proper reference on IAF colors especially this old was a problem but after a bit “internet modelling” decided to go with gunze rlm 02 mixed with gunze rlm 82, weathered with oils and pastels, enjoy.

  1. Great job all round. Nice pictures, great paint work.

  2. Nicely finished and photographed, sir.

  3. Can’t think I’ve ever seen this type with these markings. Very unusual, and nicely presented.

  4. Gregor, Craig and Rob thank you very much for your nice comments! 🙂

Rob: here’s a nice link for reference on the Tayeset 101 colors of the era:

  5. Having an IAF & IDF equipment I am in admiration of your build. Thanks for the reference link. Can always use more.
    Well done Murad

  6. Great little plane, Murad, i like it very much with this nice paint work.
    Beautiful work, Congratulations !

KP? Got the two seater with raised panels in my stash

  7. Al, Bob, Bernd and Simon thank you all too.

Bernd this one had all nice engraved panels – i guess this is a more recent production because the moulding looked very fine and crisp with little flash or whatnot.

  8. Great looking plane with a very different paint scheme, thank you, Murad.

  9. Great looking. Nice job, love it.

  10. George and Paul, thank you too, glad you liked it! 🙂

  11. Great looking model Murad. I love the weathering. Really well done.
