1/48 Hasegawa Spitfire MkIXe Egyptian markings. 1948

January 29, 2015 · in Aviation · · 26 · 2.6K

HI all, hope you like my latest.
I built it cause a friend's daughter said she liked my MkVB trop colours, but hated the filter. She's a 10 yr old going on 35...lol.
So I built this with her in mind, and cause I've always loved these markings... oh, and because she is also in my model building class at my son's school, and loves Spitfires... who doesn't. ๐Ÿ™‚ Pretty cool to have someone so young, so keen on aeroplanes and model building.
Hope you like, thanks for looking, Paul

  1. Very unusual markings. Are they post-Suez when the Egyptians captured British aircraft (I think!)?

  2. I must concur with the little lass. This Spit looks stunningin desert colours. Those green and white roundelsadd colour and stands out nicely. Well done Paul!

  3. Nice one Paul.
And cool on the young lass being into planes.
    Well done mate.

  4. Nice Egyptian Spitfire !
Kit has some errors are the most obvious bumps on wings and fuselage dimenzions.
    These are tehnomod decals*

  5. Quite attractive, well built and not often seen decor - thanks for sharing

  6. Like it! Especially in those alternative markings.

  7. A good choice for the scheme & markings. Are the wing stripes decals or painted on? Either way they really set this model off.

  8. I will echo what the others have said - a very nice scheme and excellent work on the whole model. You teach a model class in your son's school? That is fantastic to hear. What a great opportunity for the kids in that class, and I bet it's fun for you as well? thanks for posting this one and telling the story behind it!

    • Thank you. I've been doing the class for 3 years now. The kids are fantastic, and it's a great way to keep our hobby going, in my little way. It's great fun, so we all win. I often get donations too, so the kids get a free model sometimes. I love it as much as they do. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Great looking Spitfire, Paul and a great choise of markings as well.
Aircraft with desert camo are looking very good and your line up is really impressive. You should continue with your Spitfire "Trip" ! Love that !

  10. I like it, too...the belly shot is cool as well. What "filter" was she talking about..?

  11. Nice work Paul,I like the subtle weathering and scuff marks, I have a decal sheet for an Egyptian Spitfire in my stash, you may be interested in the Isreali version in my gallery .Interesting to imagine Spitfires of opposing nations dogfighting, could make a nice dio.

  12. Good story, Paul, and what an excuse to build another Spitfire (as if you needed one!).

  13. Hi Paul, Love the color scheme; something really different. You just made me think of how many nations flew Spitfires. Now that's a challenge! A great model; thanks for posting.

    • Thank you. Much appreciated. I love something different. Building a C.A. 1/48 Walrus at the moment... Not easy, but past the hard stuff now. ๐Ÿ™‚ Will be posting soon. P..
