Italeri 1/72nd scale Dodge WC-51 3/4 ton Cargo Truck,US Army WWII

January 11, 2015 · in Armor · · 11 · 2.9K

Happy New Year, to post my first build for the year is not a fresh build but one that was completed around 2012. For a change of pace away from aircraft I built this neat little kit of the Dodge WC-51 3/4 ton Cargo Truck. Straight out of box build, standard OD finish using Model Master Enamel. A little wash and silver pencil to show some wear. Unlike aircraft where I will do some research and try to depict a specific moment in it's history. This is just a standard truck that may have served somewhere in the ETO on an airfield or on the front lines. Easy build, the grille is quite thick and can use PE to be more accurate in this scale otherwise straight forward. Some how along the way the rear driveshaft is missing on the bottom view shot. Thanks for viewing.

  1. Chuck that is a sharp little truck.

  2. Thanks Al, didn't really get into the detailing too much, but it was my first military vehicle that I have built in years, have 2 Hummers and a MAN 5 ton truck on the workbench, hopefully will get those finished this year.

  3. Great little truck, Chuck. Looks very good on par with 1/35 kits, well done 🙂

  4. Thanks Bernd, despite the scale, the frame and components were quite detailed. Had quite a few bits that you would get in a similar 35th scale kit. I was quite taken by that tidbit.

  5. Small and sweet Chuck, it is nice to do something different.
    Like it mate.

  6. A very nice little truck! Very detailed for a 1/72 scale military vehicle. Would look nice in a diorama!

  7. That is actually what I have in mind for this little Dodge down the road. Thanks Morne

  8. Nice job on such a small kit. I viewed a "cherry" 3/4 ton on a car restoration website recently and it was listed for $30,000.00. It was painted gray with the "Sea-Bee's" logo painted on the doors. Does your planned diorama include something related to the USN?

  9. Very cute little truck, Chuck, I had to check your headline for the scale, it's looks very good, especially in 1/72.
