Body parts….errrr…donations????

April 21, 2015 · in Uncategorized · · 4 · 1.4K

Ok Y'all are gonna shoot me soon for my bad puns 🙂 Just wanted to do quick update on my Tiger. For those that do not know my tale of modeling woe, I retired from the US Navy about 3 years ago. The good news? The Government relocates you for free! The bad news? Well they use the lowest bidder. A good portion of my model collection was damaged or destroyed, despite me having personally packed them. Ah well, more room to build right 🙂 Amongst the kits damaged were two Tigers. So I hung on to them for parts, which I am now using on the less detailed AFV kit! So here is the AFV club kit with some Dragon donor parts and some random Aber and Dragon photo etch, but I must add I do like the AFV engine screens better than Dragon. Also note the rear plate zimmerit, and how it does not infringe on the areas the exhaust shields will be! And finally a drop of a nice stout brew from my home state of Oregon and the hometown of my lovely wife and MIGHTY OREGON DUCKS! Eugene, and the wonderful Ninkasi Brewing company Cheers mates!

  1. When I relocated to Daytona Beach from a little town in New England, I had over 40 1/35th scale armor models (mostly Tamiya) - I didn't even "attempt" to bring 'em ! 🙁 That was 30 years ago. Since that time, I've only dabbled in armor stuff off and on and have actually built less than a dozen, I'd guess.
With your skills (and the assistance of the local breweries), I'm quite sure you'll salvage something nice from the pile. Look forward to the end result. 🙂

I worked in housing and dealt with many household damage claims agaist the movers so I feel your "pain". When I retired from Uncle Sams Confused Group, I was fortunate that I didn't have to move so all my models didn't have to fear that dreaded "low bidder" moving van trip. I used to advise service members to cary in their car anything they judged to be "precious", like the kids, dog, and models ;). Good luck with the tanks.

  3. Rob,
Look forward to seeing the completed model

  4. Better late than never to the party, can t wait to see this finished. Looks very convincing, especially, when the last one is still in mind
