1/48 Tamiya P-47D-40 “Big Stud”
Here is my recently finished 1/48 Tamiya P-47D40 with the markings of “Big Stud” from 325th FG, 15 AF.
The base kit is Tamiya P-47M.
Cockpit modified with Eduard instrument panel and seat belts.
Painting was done with Alclad lacquers as usual.
Wheels replaced by Ultracast goodies.
“Big stud” decal and code number “88”ares from old Hasegawa kit (JT41).
Note that gun barrels #1 and #4 are removed.

Very nice work, Tolga...definitely up to your usual standards. Why would "they" remove four of the guns, though...? And remind me what the diagonal markings are the the tops of wings (I forgot).

I am not sure but removing four of the gun barrels may be due to reducing weight.
These markings on the top of the wings are diving angle strip if I am not wrong

Beautiful work, though this P-47D-40RE is not actually from the 325th FG, which had transitioned from P-47D razorbacks to P-51Bs in April 1944. This airplane was flown by Colonel Bob Baseler, former 325th FG CO when he was in command of a P-47 training base back in the States after finishing his combat tour.

Another fine and sophisticated build Tolga. I can only speculate that the machine guns were removed for training purposes. Like the detail in the landing gear and the subtle painting of tires and the work done on the cockpit. The rudder peddles stand out along with the control panel. Using natural sun light for photography is a plus.
Great work Tolga. Seeing two such nicely done P-47's in a row is inspiring me to build one or two I have in my stash (albeit in 1/72 scale).
