Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt BF109E-3

June 24, 2015 · in Aviation · · 17 · 1.5K

You might remember this from a while back that I won from this website.
Well the wait is over and it is fully build and finished. Want to say that (in my opinion) that this is one of the best Bf109's I've built to this day. With a choice whether to have the DB601 engine displayed or not the choice is yours. Also want to say - this was my first model I used an airbrush to spray on the camouflage! 🙂

Everything was out of the box apart from the seat harnesses and instrument panels which where a photoetch set from again.

Sorry I havent uploaded anything in ages been fairly busy with stuff

  1. Nicely done, Michael...congrats again on the "prize".

  2. Very nice work Michael - is that Pips Prillers aircraft?

  3. From what I can see (some of the pics were a bit blurry) you did a great job with the airbrush - weathering is also nice. Good looking model!

  4. Mike, looks like "A" level modeling!

  5. Greetings :
Nice work, for a first time using an airbrush to apply camouflage ... you did great.

  6. Nice work using the airbrush for the first time and on a Luftwaffe scheme which can be difficult, but this not a typical RLM BF-109 scheme, of RLM65 Lt Blue, RLM70 Black Green/RLM71 Dark Green splinter with the RLM02 Grey Green mottle. An easier application. Well done

    • Thanks Chuck, yeah Prillers 109 has the normal RLM 70 and 71 on the upper surfaces but then was sprayed over with RLM 02, don't ask why?

      • At some point during the Battle of Britain the Luftwaffe changed the uppersurfaces on their fighters by replacing one of the two greens with 02 gray reflecting the change in camouflage now that they were also operating overwater.

  7. Always good to see a prize built and photographed, especially when it's as nice as this one, well done, Michael.

  8. Its good to see one of these, (and done well). Nice work Michael !
I find it interesting that, their was a lot of issues raised when the G version came out, about the scale size of the kit, but I have never heard any issue's about the E versions. I have this kit and it looks pretty good to me. Any one know why?,
