iModeler May Awards

June 10, 2015 · in Uncategorized · · 13 · 2.1K

Once again it is time to announce the results of our monthly new content roundup - the . 99 new articles were added to the iModeler's headline page during May, prompting just over 1,000 comments. The level of workmanship on display was as impressive as ever.

As usual, we are awarding the iModeler Best in Show title to the entry that wins this month's prize, but also list runner-ups as Honorable Mentions. We think that all are great modeling accomplishments that deserve recognition. The judging committee was @editor, @aisak and @magnusf.

iModeler Best in Show - May 2015

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 is one of the evergreen favorites of modeling and it can be easily said that over the years we have seen a multitude of models of this aircraft built to high standards. In fact, there are now no fewer than 70 of them to be found at iModeler. Taking all this into consideration it brings me all the more pleasure to announce an extraordinaly attractive and well-executed Fw 109D-9 model we have seen in a log time! The seven months of tedious work spent by Milan D (@manson) on superdetailing the Hasegawa Fw 190D-9 in 1/32 produced a stunning replica, complete with opened-up panels and many internal fittings.

This model is our choice for the May 2015 Best in Show, and so the iModeler award goes to Serbia!

But wait, there is more! – the Random Award

We are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is Matija Lisec (@lisec) and his ISU-152 1/35 Zvezda. A big thank you for making iModeler such a great modeling hangout!

  1. A great selection of winners once again. Thanks to all contributors.

  2. Well done everyone, a great sections here, and certainly up to recent standards.

It's also worth noting that we are regularly getting show reports posted, which are useful modelling references in thenselves, and which add depth and an international element of experience to the community..

    • Rob,

That's true, and the show reports have been noted and appreciated. They have also been included in the award process.

Indeed, the iModeler Awards have been devised to promote quality, interesting content at iMoeler that helps everyone here to get a prime reading and viewng experience. Obviously a completed model, great images and good storytelling are ingredients that fit into this formula, but this is by no means the only choice and we are NOT excluding other submissions from our judging.

One day the iModeler Award may be won by a construction article, a video or a compelling kit review. Feel free to use your creativity!

  3. Ps naturally meant selection above, not sections (iPad auto fill error).

  4. Congratz, well deserved!

  9. Another good month. Well done everyone.

  10. Marvelous work, everybody!

  11. Once I saw Milan D's photos...the craftsman ship put into the details of all the compartments and engine and the mastery of painting made this a very strong candidate for model of the month. It was a safe bet in my book.
Milan D congratulations are in order and one can only hope that you will be so kind as to show us some more of your excellent work. Perhaps with this months award.

  12. Again, some brilliant builds here ! Congratulations !
