Revell 1/32 Me109K-4

July 17, 2015 · in Aviation · · 9 · 1.4K

Here is a recent build of mine, hope you like it.

I bought it from a chap in our club, and it came with a set of Aeromaster decals, so I added an etch cockpit set to it, which didn't work out very well, as the console fell to bits on me...maybe its just me...! Anyway, I bought an Eagle Parts resin cockpit, which was exquisite, and I used Airscale console decals for the dials, which as you can see, enhance the cockpit significantly. It takes quite a lot of fettling to get the completed cockpit to fit, and I didn,t quite get it perfect, but not so much as you,d see unless you looked really closely!

It was under shaded with black, and sprayed with Mr Color paints. Like my recent 109E4 post, I followed a similar process for painting the camo. I,m not sure if it is accurate, but I like the look of the finished article.

I replaced the undercarriage with SAC metal legs, as i do with all my models. They are sometimes less detailed than the parts they replace, but as my models ravel to shows, and metal legs reduce breakages, then its a price I,m prepared to pay.

Decals are from the Aeromaster sheet, they settled down very well with setting solution, and finish the model well. It now sits in partnership on the shelf with my 109E4.

Enjoy, and keep up the excellent modelling!

  1. Ian, I always like a nice 109, you've done a nice job here, I really like the finish. If I may make one suggestion, I think it would help if you could use a clean back ground for your photo's so it won't distract from your wonderful work.

  2. Hi Terry,
I fully agree, I,m not the best for photography, and I kind of just record the build as I go! I,m aiming to improve in the near future though...!

  3. A nice rendition of an iconic aircraft, Ian...good work.

  4. You bought it from a "chap at your club", I didn't think people still used that term, obviously your club likes the right crowd and no crowding! Anyway, you've done a great job with this kit, I'm sure "the chap" would be impressed!

  5. Nice camo scheme, Ian. Some nice detailing too.

  6. Very nice, I like it, great paint job as well. Nice one Ian.
