“The Huff” F-86F 1/48 academy

July 15, 2015 · in Aviation · · 16 · 3.4K

Hello my colleagues! After my small modeler pause I´m back. When I finished University and got a new job, I started worked on and there is result. I think, that everybody knows this kit. Fitting of main parts are really good, but details doesn´t look so good. At first I made rivets on surface. Than I upgraded cockpit with photo-etched instrument panel, resin ejection seat. I also cooperated with CMK undercarriage set. I scratchbuilted speed brakes bays by albion alloys profiles and plastic sheets. On camouflague I used supermetalic CSI colors and on weathering oil colors from abteilung. I hope, that you will like it.

Best Regards Honza B.

  1. Looks excellent, those nmf`s are really good.
    Well done mate.

  2. That looks AWESOME! well done on the weathered bare metal finish - very realistic!

  3. A popular subject. I think I did one of these in 1/32 in the same scheme. Nice presentation with this one, Jan.

  4. I like the finish too. Aluminum oxidizes and becomes that dull color. Also, the head rest is painted in the appropriate color of black or dark gray. Many modelers like to paint it red out of habit and from seeing a Warbird or two using that color. Two thumbs on providing some modeling eye candy. Looking forward to seeing some more of your work Jan.

  5. VERY well done! I do miss seeing The Huff fly when it was with CJFM. I wish EAA had sold the unpainted Sabre to Canada to be painted as Hawk 1 because this plane has some awesome artwork on it! Shame to strip it/cover it up! I like how yours looks aged but loved!

  6. Exquisite detail/weathering on that NMF finish, sir...an excellent piece of work indeed.

  7. I definitely like it, Jan, very good finish and detailing.

  8. Superb detail and finishing Honza.

  9. Superior work on the finish, a classic build!

  10. Honza, love the weathering. Did you have any problems closing it up? That split fuselage to display the engine and the gun bays add to the complexity, huh?
Looks the part, combat aircraft get beatup, and not a lot of time to clean 'em up, particularly in sunny Korea.

  11. Beautiful finish and excellent detail work. Glad you're past school so you can get on to the more serious work of modelling!

  12. Your detail work is outstanding, and the finish is totally realistic. Great model.

  13. Thank you, guys. 🙂

  14. Excellent effort and execution.

  15. Greetings :
I always wondered what this model coming out of the box looked like.
Now I don't have to wonder, I see now how good it is.
You have done a very nice work on this one, it is just a joy too see. Makes one kind of wander to the times of MIG ALLEY, very good work Jan.
