πŸ™‚ ... Greetings ... πŸ™‚ :

Seeing that it has been a short time since I last posted under the HEADLINE side of the forum. I was sending these pictures to my brother, since his CD of my works was damaged, I saw that this model has not been posted in the forum, so I took the opportunity as I sent the pictures too him, I also posted it here.

This one was made some four or five years ago. The decals used are those produced by CARTOGRAPH and sold under the POWER SLIDE name. In my opinion ... the best NASCAR decals out there to date.

The bands of YELLOW (WHEAT HARVEST YELLOW ) are actually painted. These decals, although I consider them the best, I really don't see them conforming to the curves and detail in design of the car, especially the FRONT CLIP or FACIA. I opted best to paint them, besides I enjoy painting. The paint is mix with RUSTOLEUM ENAMEL PAINT. I used yellow and red. I used the decal as a guide for the color. A few years ago, I contacted MGD via e-mail for the color, they were very friendly and kind enough to send me some brochures and pictures of the color and of the car itself. I of course was delighted and sent them pictures of this build and of the THUNDERBIRD RUSTY drove ( I will post that one soon ).

Turned out I mixed it right, I was worried I might have to repaint.

Any way ... here she is ... πŸ™‚ .

  1. You most certainly have a [modeling] knack for NASCAR examples. Good to see some of the "old" stuff for a change - brings back good memories. I only wish I had taken photos of MY collections 'back in the day...(although that was before the digital age). I don't even have color photos I could now scan. Oh well...those car models are long gone (along with an extensive armor collection)...just wasn't feasible to attempt to bring 'em all along on the trip form MA to FL in '85. Thanks for the continued posting of these "real" stock cars, Eric.

Thank you for that comment Craig, I don't know if it is a knack as you call it but I can honestly tell you that I enjoy these cars and have great volumes of fun in this our hobby. I know I have stated this before, but it is very sad to hear of past collection and the fact that not having at least a picture, well it just makes things worse.
      Thanks again.

  2. Interesting story with this one, and another great looking car, like Craig says, keep them coming!

Thank you for the comment George, I was really worried if I had to repaint or not, but things turned out ok.

  3. Very beautiful work, this car participated in a very competitive period of NASCAR, a sadness also that the Pontiac brand does not exist anymore, miss the Firebirds and Trans Ans ...

  4. As Craig put it, "you have got a way with those classic racers.
    Another fine example.
    Well done mate.

  5. Looks excellent. Rich in detail and perfect finish.

  6. Hello, Erick, how are you, friend ? - Great model, just excellent.

It's unbelievable... I have (almost) this exact car on my bench just now and it's very close to being finished. The only difference is that I'm doing the 1993 car !

You're exactly right though, the decals (yes I'm using the same sheet), are simply superb. I also have a 2003 Monte Carlo and a 1998 Taurus on the go aswell.

    Ian.

      Thank you for the comments.
The model was done a few years ago, but it is well taken care of.
The decals I see you like them as well. Keep on modeling.

  7. Very nice work. My interest in stock car racing started and stopped in the 1960's, I was a Ford man and my friend was a Plymouth fan. A. J. Foyt and Junior Johnson were my heros, and Ford Galaxys were the car to beat. Do you ever build the "golden oldies" from this time period in racing?

Hi Mike, first of all ... thank you for the comment as well as taking some of your time to see the photos.

You ask ... " Do you ever build the β€œgolden oldies” from this time period in racing? " . The answer is yes. I am settling, unpacking and organizing this room. This is a brand new home and although on my part ( as for this room ), I would venture too say that in a scale of 1 to 10, I am at 8. Most is done, this WILL not be the final room but it will do for the time being. Those models to be honest, are still unpacked, and with out their proper display case but they are stored in their singular box with padding, foam, bubble wrap and a small SILICA bag. I have used this method before lots of times and has never failed. I will post them eventually ... even the 1957 BLACK WIDOWS.

Again ... thank you for your comment and interest.
