‘Tiger Face’

September 15, 2015 · in Armor · · 15 · 2.8K

Just finished this morning for the 'Campaign' (Group Build) over at Modellers Alliance, my other modelling 'home'. This is the that I bought when it was a 'new' release way back in 1995 !. Only now did I attempt it as up until this point, I truthfully didn't believe that my limited skills were up to the task, to be brutally honest, I'm still not certain.

Well if it wasn't for the fact that the (Italeri) tracks that I used to save time are two links too small I'd be 100% delighted with the build, however now that I need to go-back and fit a couple of links from the kit anyways, I can only claim 99.2% satisfaction... Never mind, that issue is easily overcome. So TWENTY YEARS this has been in the stash awaiting my skills to match my expectation. Please be VERY honest with your opinions and comments, folks.

Looking forward to hearing what you guys think.

Ian.

  1. Looks pretty nicely done from where I'm sittin'...a unique scheme not often modeled/seen. I LIKE it. 🙂

  2. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Appears to be fine, nice work. Trusting that the model will end up on a diorama, I believe the faults in the tracks can be covered with the ground work.

  3. Ian, to be honest like you ask, I have to say this is so ugly its beautiful, Very well done. I'm sure this is from the same guys that painted flames on their cars back home, and naked lady's on airplanes. Yes, I like it.

  4. Hi Phil. If you place the tank on to a vignette base with a little soil/debris in and around the track base you'll lose the gap of the missing tread and make a more dramatic presentation in the process. That said, the tiger(?) face makes for a striking looking (no pun intended) piece of armour.

  5. Absolutely STUNNING. I have a couple of tanks from the Vietnam war in my stash. Always postponed building them due to mt limited skills when it comes to armor. You have inspired me to give it a go. Well done!

  6. I'm not familiar with these kits, Ian, so I assume it's 1/35 scale. Anyway, I love the "tiger face" scheme, it's so good to see something like this on a piece of armour for a change. As for the missing links, I bet nobody would have noticed if you hadn't told us!

  7. honestly...i think it's a masterpiece

  8. Looks like a creepie-crawlie to me! 🙂

Really, it does look good. Your skills caught up to the kit.

  9. A very unique piece of armour! Very nicely done as well, great weathering skills.

  10. Well done, striking scheme !
