1/72 Revell Hurricane Mk.XII

October 4, 2015 · in Aviation · · 13 · 1.7K

This model started off as the scale Hawker Mk.IIb, but I added a few things to convert it into a Canada Car and Foundry Hurricane Mk.XII, as used by 135 Squadron RCAF, on the west coast.

The engine front and propeller constant speed units come from an aires merlin engine, and the propeller is from an Academy B-17 kit.

The decals come from a variety of sources, including Aviaeology, Sky Decals and Canmilair

  1. Interesting build...although the scale is too small for these old eyes. 🙁
First time I've heard of "Canada Car & Foundry".

  2. I agree Craig, very interesting indeed, I already wear glasses and use a magnifying glass at the same time. Nice build.

  3. Thanks, guys. Yes, they are tiny, in this scale. I'm working on another hurricane, right now.

  4. First time I've seen a Canadian model Hurricane. Looks different with out the spinner.
Does the West Coast in this instance include fighting the Japanese in the Aleutians and Alaska?

  5. Nice build and paint BUT?
this awful impossible Revell HURRICANE c**p.
Full of errors and difficult to assemble the worst of the dihedral wing
    in the world.
I saw them dozens of the same problem and the kit builders do not notice that and fixes...

    P.k

  6. Glad to see a hurricane in my scale. Next time, get a little closer so we can see more detail! Nice build, and fun way to "change the subject" up a little bit.

  7. Interesting. I wonder if the pressurized air that got under the cowling caused an issue. Engine must have run cooler in any event.

  8. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Interesting build no doubt, small in size ... true, but still a very much welcomed sight with a good paint job,

  9. Looks great ! Are Canadian subjects of particular interest to you.

  10. Thanks for the comments, everyone.

  11. I've never seen a Canadian version. VERY interesting look without the spinner. Thanks for showing it. Ya learn something new every day! Great build of an interesting Mark.
