1/200 Dragon C-141B

Yes, only a 9 1/2" wingspan! I built this as a presentation model for a buddy of mine. He flew F-4s in SEA then transitioned over to the 141s until retirement. He specifically requested the stretched version (B) in Lizard paint. Now that was a wise choice as the old kit I found over on Evil Bay had really toasted decals and I could not have done any other paint scheme without sourcing a new kit or set of decals.

Everything fit okay, with some wing joint work being minimal. I super glued up the rear cargo doors and worked the area over multiple times before it was ready for primer and paint. I think /DML never intended for the doors to be modeled in the closed position.

Paint is Model Master with a Future overcoat for decals and then a Polly Scale semi-gloss final finish. It looks the part and I will deliver it to my friend tomorrow at work.

  1. Your friend should be proud to display his model in a prominent place...it looks good!.

  2. Nice work on an interesting subject!

  3. Leaping Lizard's there Clark...looks good and I know your associate was delighted to receive it. I'll bet he could tell some stories about the transition from F-4's to the C-141. Very good of you to build that model for him.

  4. Thank you Jim. This could lead into one of those Geico commercials! He's told me some of the 141 tales, but not much on the F-4s but then I only get to chat with him briefly when he comes in.
