1:72 Airfix De Haviland Vampire T.11

December 27, 2015 · in Aviation · · 11 · 2.2K

As you can probably tell by now I'm quite taken with 's new tooled kits and this oneis one of the good ones. Finished with Citadel Mithril Silver and Xtradecal set X72-172 as WZ584 (K) from the Central Air Traffic Control School based at RAF Shawbury 1970.

After completion I found photos of 584 as a wreck in someone's garden and it looks like the upper wings should have been grey, it is also interesting to note that later versions of the decals now reflect this in the decal guide.

Like the color scheme very much.

  3. You are very busy, Michelle, good to see Airfix 1/72 kits back on top, the Vampire is a great looking plane. Don't know about the wings being the wrong colour, it looks pretty neat in this colour scheme.

  4. I can only play Sir Echo on this one. Michelle, your build is smart, tight and very neat in its presentation. Add some great sharp photo's and another skill set. This project could be found on a box top and used as a source for inspiration. Two thumbs up on this one.

  5. Very nicely finished...you do good work, my dear.

  6. I can see a definite theme here. You must be a fan of 72 scale Airfix kits.
Do you airbrush or use a hairy stick?
By the way, I think your stuff rocks.

  7. Nice one, Michelle.

  8. I'm glad to see that you post mostly 1/72 - my only scale! Gives me lots of reference material for possible future builds... Great looking Vampire!
