Eduard Bf109E-1 in 1/32

January 9, 2016 · in Aviation · · 18 · 1.7K

This is my first completion for 2016 although I started it before Christmas. The kit is the Week end boxing & went together with no real problems. Admittedly there is only one set of decals included & no resin or etched bits. this gave me the opportunity to try out a few things such as drilling out the instrument panel, putting a black piece of card behind & scratching instrument details on before filling with Future. Worked well, except you can't see it (yeah..I know it's there etc.). Seat belts came from Eduard too; they're a printed plasticised paper with beautiful etched fittings & apart from nearly sending me blind threading it all together look the part just fine.

For markings I used the set from Eagle Cals, the option being for Fw Hermann Graf in April 1940. Paints from Model Master (Acryl). Hope you like it...

  1. You did an amazing job on this 109. Your weathering and paint finish looks great. Can't wait to see your next model!

    • Thanks Morne. My next one may well be an Avro Shackleton (Airfix). I haven't done a big 1/72nd kit for a long time but the reviews for this one are impressive. Four engines with four bladed contraprops; just think of the fun I'll have painting the propeller tips!

  2. Nice build - (and photography)...I like it.

  3. Nice Tony, well finished and photo`d

  4. Nice job Tony, too bad we can't see the instrument panel but like you said you know it's there.

  5. This really looks like an 'Emil'. Congats on a classy job. I am now persuaded to tackle it myself as I don't have one at all in my shelf collection.

  6. That is a beautiful plane, Tony

  7. Nice german

  8. Very neat work, Tony, I like it a lot.

  9. Really nice looking 109. Good work, Tom.

  10. Liking this! I did the E-3 weekend edition (more like eight weekends, narf!) I enjoyed mine - it was pretty demanding and made you work to ensure everything was lined up, but it rewarded you for the effort. Looks like you got rewarded too.
