Airfix 1/48 Hurricane Mk1

Well I've finally(!) got around to finishing a kit, a rare event sadly! Bought a new compressor and dual action air brushes which helped! This is the new tool kit. Needless to say a great kit from Airfix and so well priced. In my estimate easily one of the best kits around. Surface engraving is excellent. The detail is as good as 1/24th scale in a . O mounted it on a stand and posed the aircraft with the gear retracting. I call it my "Up and at em" Hurricane!

  1. The landing gear in retracting mode is a method not often seen - and I like what you've done with it. Good job, sir.

  2. Nice looking Hurricane. Love seeing aircraft displayed in the element for which they were intended (the air), and the retracting gear lends some nice kinetic energy feel.

  3. Jim, she's a beauty! Great idea showing the gear coming up, could be scrambling to head off the Adlerangriff.

  4. Mach Schell incoming scramble scramble scramble

  5. Thanks for the comments! Yeah, the retracting gear does look better than I expected, does add a look of "Movement".

  6. I'm reminded of "chocks away!", but that would be a couple of minutes before this...whatever, great Hurricane, and another good Airfix kit.

  7. Lovely build! I also like the take-off attitude, it's great!
