Airfix Whitley
This is my version of the Airfix 1/72 Armstrong Whitworth Whitley. For a good bit of history about the Whitley look up Tom Cleaver's article here on imodeler.
I found the kit to be an enjoyable build. Even though the fuselage is unconventional compared to the usual two halves design, the fit is quite good. I only needed a little filler here and there to smooth a few spots. The cockpit and interior detail is good although there is room for improvement. I only added some seatbelts made of tape.
I particularly liked the design of the support spars for the wings which also act as part of the bomb bay and wheel wells. Wheel well detail is very good for a 1/72 scale kit.
I used the masks from Eduard for the clear parts, which saved quite a bit of time.
Very nice, the canopy and clear parts look great with having used the Eduard masks. My local hobby shop keeps promising to get in a batch of new Airfix stock soon, if they do and I see they have a Whitley, it will be a sure sale!
