Back after more than 20yrs 49" Merc..

March 28, 2016 · in Automotive · · 8 · 1.3K

Hello guys: I thought I lost these pics..This is the 1st kit I completed after being away from the hobby for more than 25yrs. I did alot of model building as a kid. But then came high school, parties, cars, and my wife...kids were not too far after that so needless to say the styrene got put away..Now the kids are all grown and out. One day I followed my wife into Michaels and saw they had model cars.. I picked this one up for $8 from the clearance bin because the box had spray paint all over it. I thought wow $8 lets see if I still have the patience to build one of these. I immediately fell back in love with the hobby..This one is alittle simple but for the 1st one back not too bad I think. I went with the old rockabilly flat finish.. Thanks guys hope you dig it...

  1. Cool welcome back to the building

  2. Nice finish. cool rod.

  3. Tony, great choice, been around for years, and a classic like the full size. Just a neat design, instantly recognizable. Ya gonna paint flames on it? Fuzzy dice? Rolled and pleated interior? Plaque on the dash that says "Sit down, shut up, and hold on"?

  4. One of the classic "street rods"...I like it.

  5. Really neat Tony V. Kind of has that Rat-Rod look that gives it that actual feel of what we had back in the day.
Who were those guys in American Graffiti that drove around in one these, I think it was the Pharaoh's ?
    Very Nice !

  6. Your life story sounds familiar, but, like a lot us it seems, the pleasures of this hobby stay around. I hope you can build some more, this Mercury definitely looks the part.

  7. Nothing like a satin Merc! You nailed the look!
