Hunter FR.10

March 14, 2016 · in Aviation · · 16 · 2.2K

Built for 'Micro Modelling Month' over at http://www.modelersalliance.com - an annual GB/Campaign to build any model in one of the smaller scales.

As I have four of these kits on the shelf, I thought it was time to build another Hawker , but this time try and make it a wee bit different using the FAA Models resin (recce) nose conversion and one of Xtradecal's superb alternative Hunter sheets.

Probably one of the easiest conversions you could ask for. The FAA Models resin nose simply drops in to place in place of the kit part with the absolute minimum of fuss and just a smear of filler. In total this model spent only 11hrs and 45mins on my bench from the moment I opened the box until this afternoon, and I enjoyed every one of those 765 minutes. Not my first RoG Hunter and won't be my last... One of the best 1:72 kit of recent years ?, IMHO yeah, it is.

Please feel free to make any comments, criticisms or ask any questions. Thanks for taking the time to look.

Ian.

  1. A whistle-clean build. Nice.

  2. Arguably one of the most beautiful post war RAF fighters. You did a stellar job on this Hunter!

  3. Always liked the sleek-looking Hunter, and this one is certainly no exception. Nice work.

  4. Very nicely done.

  5. Great looking Hunter - what Kit manufacturer was it?

  6. Love the Revell Hunters. I wish they'd do another pressing.

    IAN,

That is one smart, tight elegant build. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Two thumbs up on the Hunter.

  7. Thank you everyone for the positive feedback, very much appreciated.

You can tell that I loved this wee project, and I still have two more in the stash to build.

Just thinking about it, the only other 1:72 jet kit that I built that gave me as much pleasure to build was the old Fujimi MiG-21 series and I haven't seen one of them on eBay for a l-o-n-g time, pity.

OK back to putting EVERY stencil on to my Academy F-15A, stand by for an 'Eagle Reveal' in a few weeks.

  8. Ian, is this still available? I haven't seen one hereabouts for quite a while, or the Mig 21 released about the same time. It sure looks as good as its reputation.

  9. Very nice looking Hunter, Ian, a real classic.
