Revel 1955 Chevy Pro Mod

March 27, 2016 · in Automotive · · 13 · 2.2K

I built this one a few years ago. It's based on 's 1/25 1955 ProMod Chevy kit. I had finished a F/A-18C in the "Digi Bug" scheme of VMFA-314, and thought it would be interesting if the United States Marine Corps sponsored a drag racing team with a car painted similarly.

I didn't add much to the basic model other than some wiring and plumbing; the kit itself is rather well detailed straight from the box.

The paint scheme uses Model Master enamels in Light Ghost Gray, Dark Ghost Gray, Medium Gray/Blue and Dark Gull Gray. I made the Marine Corps decals on my printer, with a couple of hints to Marine Corps history among them. The sponsor decals for the fenders are from the kit.

I gave the model to a friend of mine who served in the Marine Corps in the late 80's and early 90's.

  5. I'm not really into "What If's", but this one is an exception, very well done. Interestingly the Paratroop Regiment actually run a team in the British Touring Car Championship using servicemen injured in combat as engineers.
