Airfix 1/48 Boulton Paul Defiant MK.I, 264 SQN RAF, 1940

May 26, 2016 · in Aviation · · 12 · 2.4K

May I present my rendition of 's recent release of the scale BP . Finished in one of the kit schemes of an aircraft from 264 SQN, RAF in Suffolk, 1940. The level of detail OOB is excellent and provides a great start if you wish to add more details such as PE, Brassin exhausts and Master Barrels as I have used. The "A" scheme was done courtesy of Miracle Paint Masks excellent camouflage masking set and my thanks to Mal for making an excellent and easy to follow set. The kit is well engineered and goes together well, however it lacks some details such as the underside flare chute covers and wing fuel filler points (the stencils are on the decal sheet). These are not hard to replicate and with a little work are easily added. The resulting model is an asset to any collection.

  1. Very nicely done. 🙂

  2. Looks great !

  3. Outstanding work. I, like yourself, also use masks for painting markings and/or camouflage patterns. Masks are tedious and time consuming, but you cannot argue with the results. I just noticed that the "A" pattern on your Defiant is the same as the "A" pattern on the Hawker Hurricane.

  4. Nice work, sir...the camo turned out great...(I like your homemade jig, too).

Very nice work, I see more of these AIRFIX models and am compelled to try a few. They really seem to be a far cry from what they were in the past.
Good work on this piece of history.

  9. Thanks again for the kind words. I am well pleased with the build and the reception it has been given.

    Regards,

  10. Great result, Kent, I'm sure you're very pleased with it, and rightly so.
