IPMS Race City Modelers May Meeting

May 18, 2016 · in News · · 12 · 1.5K

We had another successful club meeting this past Sunday at the Mooresville, NC Hobbytown USA. A lot of great models for show and tell. We had several discussions on the type of glues we each like to use and what we use to strip paint from plastic. John Loner put on a airbrush demonstration and brought his ultrasonic cleaner for anyone who wanted to clean their airbrush. Our meetings are open to anybody who likes to talk plastic on the third Sunday of every month starting at 2:00pm. Ya'll come!

  1. Bruce, nice buncha models! I like the Phantom (the F4, not the other, though its really well done) and the Japanese SH 3 helicopter. Those markings really give it color!

  2. Thanks for sharing your pics, Bruce (wish we had a similar club locally). That (32nd?) F-4 is stunning. And Liberman's Vega (1/16th?) brings back memories. Back in the day, I'd done the whole series. Tell me...what is being demonstrated outside at the table?

  3. Great work. Nice to see that Deora in the second shot.

  4. Some nice work on display from your club!

  5. Bruce, good to see the group going from strength to strength. A good subject variety on view, including figures which, I have to say, is a little unusual and to be commended.

One observation if I may - one of the first things our own club decided when displaying models whether at club level or at regional events, was that they must be displayed on a base. It really gives the model a lift (literally!) and allows the models to be viewed as individual works rather than informal hobby subjects.

    Thanks for posting.

  6. You guys are obviously having fun, that's what matters!

  7. Oh, I loved those old Aurora 'monster' kits. I know I made King Kong, Frankenstein's monster, Dracula, the hunchback, and my personal favourite, the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Happy, happy days.
